Writers from the country's finest news outlets along with vital new voices have come together to create The Perpetual Post, an interactive, constantly-updated set of thoughtful, often irreverent discourses on important issues within News/Politics, Arts/Culture, Sports, and Humor.
In just over a year, The Perpetual Post has grown a strong regular readership of approximately 130,000 pageviews per month, and has been featured in publications ranging from ESPN.com and The New York Times to the California Politics twitter feed to Nellie McKay's blog (and many, many others).
The Perpetual Post is a co-op: writers participate in a series of round-robin e-mails beginning on Monday, continuing through the week. Topics are suggested by the editor, but every writer is encouraged to submit topics of his/her own as well. For discussions with multiple points of view, a discourse is assigned for the following week.
Discourses are influenced by the day's stories, but our focus is longer-term, providing a window into the current state of affairs while considering how it effects events to come.
Writers will be paid a percentage of profits, with payment based upon percentage of the total discourses each writer creates. At the current rate of growth, profits appear to be within reach over the next six months.
In the meantime, The Perpetual Post has become an intellectually stimulating community. I am looking for writers with an irreverent voice, the ability to disagree without anger or acrimony, and particularly strong writing samples in any/all of the following topics:
For NEWS/POLITICS Domestic politics, International Politics, Legal decisions, Congressional policy, Polling
For SPORTS Baseball, Pro Basketball, College Basketball, Pro Football, College Football, Hockey, Domestic Soccer, International Soccer, Golf
For ARTS/CULTURE Books, Music, Films, Television, Pop Culture, Technology
Please contact me at the e-mail address below if interested, ideally with writing samples and/or a blog as a link in the e-mail. I am excited to meet those of you who fit in with what we are doing at The Perpetual Post.
