Solutions At Work is looking for an experienced Business Manager to support and oversee our operations.
Solutions at Work was founded by a group of homeless individuals in Cambridge in 1989. Our mission is to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness by providing individuals and families with resources and opportunities to strengthen their self-confidence, achieve self-sufficiency, and participate in helping others.
The homeless and low-income parents who participate in our Childrens' Clothing Exchange trade their children's outgrown items for age appropriate clothing, books, and toys. Our SolutionsWear program provides interview-appropriate clothing and accessories to men and women who are enrolled in area job-training programs. Each of this programs is run by our dedicated program manager and staff. We are located in the Roosevelt Towers Housing Complex in East Cambridge.
The Business Manager will to provide back office support and operational guidance for the program manager and staff so that they can focus on serving our client base. You will report to the board of directors. This position offers flexible hours and much of the work can be done remotely.
Manage financial account balances and bill payment
Provide financial information to our bookkeeper to ensure timely financial reporting
Oversee staff time sheets and payroll processing
Manage fee for service processes
Maintenance of our donor database
Manage supplies and other resources
Coordinate monthly program reporting for the board
Support our relationship with Cambridge Housing Authority
Mentor our staff and volunteers
Spend part of one day each week in the Solutions At Work program space when the programs are open- currently Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Manage human resource files and CORI information
Submit recurring grant proposals
Collaborate with board members on drafting new grants proposals
Provide program data for grant reports and fundraising appeals
Oversee website maintenance and social media marketing for the organization
Submit press releases to local media
Collaborate with board and staff to develop our annual budget
Maintain and renew insurance policies
Support relationships with partner agencies
Support relationships with current and potential funders
Reply to employment verification requests for current and former employees
Experience in the not-for-profit environment
Prior background as a business manager or relevant role
Good organizational skills
Solid communication and interpersonal abilities
Social media skills
Positive and enthusiastic style
You will be paid as a consultant, without benefits, for working an average of 18 hours a week, for fifty weeks a year for a total annual part time salary of $18,000
