Bigscreen is looking for an experienced 3D artist to design new environments. You'll get ownership over environment design and work along side our Unity developers to build amazing VR spaces. You'll be responsible for everything from prototyping, modeling, & texturing, to lighting and performance optimization.

Prior VR experience is not required but highly desired. We are open to either part-time or full-time roles.

- Designing and developing new environments tailored for use cases such as gaming on a couch, working at desks, etc.

- Gray-boxing and prototyping new environment ideas
- Designing, modeling, and texturing environments
- Integrating into Unity pipeline (ex. lighting)
- Optimizing performance for high-end PCs and low-end Android smartphones


- Several years of industry experience, shipped one or more apps/games
- 3+ years of experience with videogame environment design or interior level design
- Strong expertise with 3D modeling tools and workflow (Maya, Quixel and similar)
- Strong expertise with lighting and texturing in Unity 5 and Enlighten
- Experience with physically based rendering
- Experience scripting and developing in Unity3D
- Experience working remotely, independently, and collaboratively on small teams
- Strong communication skills in English

Bonus skills

- Experience designing social VR apps
- Built and shipped a VR app/game
- C# programming skills with Unity
- Experience with rendering software such as Mental Ray, V-Ray, etc.

We're currently in Berkeley, California (UTC-8) so ideally you live in North America or South America. We prefer if you live in a timezone that is less than 4 hours different from UTC-8 / Pacific Time.
