Position Overview:

We are excited to build our inaugural Virtual Docent team as we actively grow and expand into new locations and service offerings. The role of the Virtual Docent is to act as an important point of contact for patients as they proceed through their healthcare journey. This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-growth organization that is both modernizing and humanizing the healthcare experience. Virtual Docents are integral to our growth by scaling how we connect and support patients, serving as their main point of contact, and being a mission-centric brand ambassador for our company.

This individual must be able to accommodate a flexible schedule of 16 to 24 hours per week between the hours of 4pm and 10pm, and every other weekend. This is a virtual role and will require occasional travel to our headquarters in Boston for onboarding, continued training & education, and for monthly & quarterly team meetings. Given our focus on culture and community, we require Virtual Docents to live within a 50 mile radius of Boston, so that you can have access to our Boston headquarters for various events!

Key Responsibilities:

- Conducting proactive outreach to patients via phone, text, video, or email (depending on patient's preferred communication channel) to help support patients throughout their healthcare journey
- Troubleshooting patient inquiries by providing educational information and additional necessary resources
- Providing pre-admission and post-discharge support to answer any questions patients have about their healthcare experience and journey
- Educating and supporting patients as well as encouraging clinical adherence
- Documenting patient preferences, concerns, and questions in the Docent Health platform
- Autonomously managing your KPIs and metrics to track patient communication and activities
- Clear and concise documentation of interaction detail for tracking of patient data
- Appropriate escalation of patient concerns and issues
- Coordination with Boston-based team on new initiatives, policies, and processes that affect Docent workflow
- Building a meaningful relationship with patients through two-way communication, always ensuring to approach each interaction with empathy and compassion

- You will be required to provide a quiet, private, and distraction-free work environment
- Ability to provide a reliable high-speed internet connection (Cable, DSL, or Fiber)
- Discipline to work from home while following a set schedule and adhering to KPI/metrics tracking
- Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills with strong listening/comprehension skills
- Conversational, patient and confident with a positive attitude, you must have a great telephone presence with the ability to engage and support
- Service orientation and mentality - interest and demonstrated track record in providing excellent customer service in any setting (not limited to health care)
- Excellent time-management and problem-solving skills
- Experience working in one of the following: a secure remote work environment, a customer-facing or customer service role, an inbound or outbound call center
- Strong proficiency with MS-Word, Excel and other web based applications
- Ability to type at least 40 words per minute
- Comfort with iterative processes resulting in alterations to workflow
- Ability to adapt to a constantly evolving environment
- Ability to multitask in a demanding, fast paced environment. Extreme comfort level with having multiple windows open, systems up and running, quickly navigating between screens, responding to emails, taking notes, often simultaneously all while providing excellent service to our patients,
- Resourceful and patient approach to solving problems

Preferred Qualifications
- Bi-Lingual English/Spanish
- Background in healthcare/wellness
- Previous experience in a support/hospitality role and/or customer service or client-facing role is preferred
- Associates or Bachelors degree preferred
