Essential Duties:

- Outline articles for writers
- Edit the work of other writers before it's published: fact checking, formatting, line edits, a 50,000 foot view, inserting videos or images as appropriate.
- Improve already published articles: updating information, bringing up to our current standards, line edits.
- Replying to comments: editors take turns replying to all reader comments within 24 hours.

If you know what it takes to write comprehensive and compelling articles, can do great editing, work well with a large team of writers and fellow editors, enjoy working remote, enjoy researching, and want to help a large number of readers with your skills... we want you on our team.

This position is ideal for a stay at home parent, recent college grad, journalism majors, English majors, communications majors, political science majors, business administration majors, someone with a current full-time job, someone who excelled in writing-intensive college courses and anyone with research skills, a strong writing voice, and leadership skills.

Job Requirements:

- You must know what is and is not proper research (think academia) though our citation process is FAR easier.
- You must have an excellent grasp on spelling and grammar rules.
- You must enjoy working by yourself but also enjoy helping coach a large team.
- You must want to do this long-term.
- You must be dependable. Excuses are rarely entertained.
- You must be willing to think and act above and beyond the job description so as to improve process and procedures.
- You must either have a good understanding of WordPress or be willing teach yourself (nothing we ask you to do is very complicated).
- You must have a positive attitude.
- You must be coachable.
- You must be able to follow directions. We have a very detailed style guide and it's your job to make sure all articles are perfect before publication.

All work is done within Google Docs (in the beginning of the role) then it's all done within WordPress. Research is done largely via your search engine of choice but sometimes picking up the phone and calling companies is necessary (though contributors do most of the research).

Pay Structure:

You will be paid $17.00 per hour via your choice of PayPal or Venmo. Payment is made on the 1st and 15th of each month as a salary. You must work between 10-30 hours per week, you can let us know what exactly amount works best for your schedule. You will also be paid $50 for each referral (contributors, editors, etc.).

Please do not apply if your skills are not well above average. If you apply and have lackluster skills, you will either not get interviewed, will get interviewed but have wasted your time, or get hired but promptly fired. We provide a low stress work environment but we take our roles very seriously.
