Role Summary

The Editorial Project Manager/Client Services Manager (CSM) plays a key role in planning, managing and editing marketing and editorial projects for C4D clients. Editorial Project Managers/CSMs manage the production and delivery of content assets, as well as B2B marketing planning and consulting products and services, within a fast-paced environment.

Organizational Position

The Managing Editor/CSM will report to the Director of Client Services. Editorial Project Managers/CSMs will work on a day-to-day basis with the Director of Client Services, other staff Editorial Project Managers/CSMs, Account Managers, Graphic Designers, Content Strategists and freelance writers.

Detailed Duties

Day-to-day duties an Editorial Project Managers/CSM performs include:

- Schedule and preside over project kickoff calls, weekly client-status calls, internal project calls and calls between writers/contractors and client-side subject-matter experts.
- Ensure that clients understand C4D editorial and consulting delivery processes - especially those requiring timely client feedback or other input.
- Manage editorial project schedules; track discrepancies between planned and actual project timelines; anticipate and address issues that may impact schedules.
- Operate within tight timelines and act quickly to launch projects, review content assets, and respond to client and internal correspondence.
- Maintain cordial relationships with client stakeholders; manage client expectations and understand/communicate issues that may affect client relationships.
- Select, onboard and manage freelance writers and project specialists.
- Edit drafts of white papers, e-books, infographic, video scripts, and all other content deliverables at all stages of production to ensure that messaging is aligned with client specifications, concepts are well organized, copy is well written, and design aligns with client expectations.
- Assess/address client feedback on drafts and layouts.
- Apply C4D best practices to perform last-line quality assurance on all outgoing client deliverables.
- Occasionally write short-form content assets and supporting content such as infographics, email and landing page copy, social media posts, promotional excerpts, etc.
- Work with the C4D design department on content asset layouts and interactive content development projects.
- Assist other Editorial Project Managers/CSMs as needed in urgent or critical situations.
- Work with account managers to ensure that project work stays within scope and on budget.

- Work with content strategists and the design department to prepare C4D consulting deliverables for client presentation

Requirements

Expected work experience: 3-5 years of editorial and/or marketing project management.

Specific qualifications:

- The ability to manage and prioritize multiple, and often very urgent, project priorities.
- Excellent writing and editing skills, including the ability to make fast and accurate changes to copy to address client feedback.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience managing client relationships.
- Outstanding ability to communicate with clients in an organized and professional manner and to anticipate potential problems/issues that may impact a client relationship.
- Experience with, or the ability to learn, project management tools, interactive content platforms and other software/services as required.
- Comfortable working independently - identifying and escalating client service issues as needed, but taking initiative whenever possible to solve issues themselves.
- Versatility - the ability to step up and take responsibility for a variety of tasks in an environment where every team member wears multiple hats.
- Initiative - ability to make decisions based on understanding of best practices and client needs
- Familiar with basic B2B marketing concepts, including content marketing concepts/best practices and demand gen techniques and terminology.
- Experience managing and evaluating freelance contributors.
- Proven experience working effectively in a home-office environment.
- Experience with Adobe InCopy and Adobe Acrobat Professional a plus in addition to expected proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Documents.
