EnerNOC's Business Development Manager will generate Procurement revenue for the company by developing new business opportunities, while simultaneously retaining & renewing a portfolio of EnerNOC's Government procurement customers.

EnerNOC's Business Development Manager is responsible for prospecting for customers, developing new relationships, and ultimately securing new Procurement business in the Government vertical. In addition, this individual will be responsible for proactively managing and expanding customer relationships to achieve aggressive new and renewal annual sales quotas. The Business Development Manager will work in conjunction with EnerNOC's Procurement Account Managers to accomplish these tasks. The Business Development Manager will oversee strategy development for pursuing new and renewal opportunities with individual accounts. The Business Development Manager will also manage the relationship of existing customers at the strategic level, with support for day-to-day management of the account typically handled by the Procurement Account Manager. The Business Development Manager will advise customers on managing price risk through competitive energy supply purchasing and will serve as an internal voice for customers, while working cross-functionally with the Procurement Account Manager and other stakeholders within EnerNOC to maintain high customer satisfaction. The Business Development Manager will have detailed knowledge of industry concepts, market conditions & retail energy supplier networks. Successful interactions between the Business Development Manager and customers can increase engagement & often leads to procurement expansion opportunities or those within EnerNOC's suite of energy intelligence solutions. This role is fast-paced, collaborative & dynamic. Ideal candidates will have in-depth knowledge of electricity and natural gas supply procurement, and will have a demonstrated track record of sales success to public sphere and government customers. We are looking for sharp, hungry individuals who are committed to evangelizing the merits our award-winning procurement process under the banner of a successful and well respected organization. Primary success metrics include new business development and customer retention.

Key Responsibilities:

- Prospecting and converting leads into profitable business relationships
- Partnering with other members of the EnerNOC sales team to support and expand our relationship with existing customers
- Building client base through cold calling and prospecting
- Scheduling and attending on-site and web-based client meetings to communicate EnerNOC value proposition
- Distilling complex energy information into basic business terms that enable decision making
- Closing with customer execution of term supply agreements for natural gas & electricity
- Monitoring market and regulatory conditions for further buying opportunities
- Communicating additional product offerings to current and prospective customers
- Working with our Procurement Account Management team to deliver world-class customer service
- Using EnerNOC's internal customer relations data base to document all sales & retention activities
- Tailoring daily activities to meet quarterly and annual goals
- Adhering to EnerNOC's company code of conduct

Required Qualifications:

- Minimum of B.A. or B.S. undergraduate degree required
- At least 5 years of outside sales experience
- At least 3 years of experience operating in natural gas / electric supply markets
- Ability to develop strong customer relationships
- A proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales quotas
- Ability to illustrate our value proposition to economic buyers at various levels of the prospect's organization
