FFAA is seeking a VP of Development to start in January 2018. The VP of Development should be an individual deeply committed to advancing LGBTQ equality and LGBTQ nondiscrimination protections.

The VP of Development is responsible for crafting and executing comprehensive fundraising plans that ensure Freedom for All Americans and Freedom for All Americans Education Fund have the resources necessary to fulfill our mission and meet our strategic priorities. Key tasks include plan writing, stewarding and soliciting current and prospective donors both directly and by supporting staff and board donor stewardship and solicitations, and diversifying FFAA's funding portfolio through strategic fundraising program development and execution.

The VP of Development is a senior level position and reports to the President of Partnerships & Operations and will interface closely with our CEO. - Develop and implement a comprehensive, multi-year fundraising strategy with CEO, President of Partnerships & Operations, and VP of Finance & Administration to enable sustainable growth, including individual, foundation, and corporate donors that will enable FFAA/EF to meet its annual budget
- Identify, cultivate, and solicit new funding streams to grow the financial resources available to FFAA/EF and create a robust and diverse pipeline of supporters, and manage donor portfolio assignments across both staff and BoardSolicit and incorporate input from Board members, FFAA team members, and other stakeholders to develop lists of and outreach to prospective individual and corporate donors
- Supervise grant-writing activities and support key relationships with institutional donors and foundations
- Maximize fundraising potential for FFAA/EF, including working with the Communications department and Digital teams to turn FFAA/EF's activities and successes into investment opportunities for donors and leveraging senior staff travel to maximize fundraising opportunities
- Work with Administrative Specialist to ensure that donations are properly tracked and coded and that all acknowledgements are sent out on a timely and regular basis
- Establish performance measures, monitor results, and assist the CEO and Board in evaluating the effectiveness of the organization's development program
- Provide and deliver relevant training content to LGBT-U on an as-needed basis


This is a remote position that can be based anywhere in the U.S. Candidates must be able to work from home and feel comfortable frequently engaging with colleagues and partners by phone, video conference, email, and other digital communications tools. This position requires some travel, including at least four quarterly staff retreats and ad hoc campaign meetings.

- Have a combination of 5-7 years of general nonprofit, public education, advocacy and/or campaign development experience and LGBTQ movement work.
- Understand how to develop and implement comprehensive fundraising plans.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, including prioritizing appropriately and tracking and reporting progress internally and to funders.
- Have excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Have experience with basic technology, including Microsoft, scheduling tools, online communications tools, and donor databases.
- Thrive in a fast-paced, campaign environment.
- Adapt to a quickly changing landscape.
- Be detail oriented.
- Collaborate in a team-based remote environment with minimal supervision.
- Be able to travel frequently and work remotely.
