The Flatiron School is growing at an extraordinary pace! In addition to increasing our various course offerings, we are also building digital learning products to support our mission of enabling the pursuit of a better life through education. As the Director of Curriculum, you will be responsible for ensuring that we produce and make available broad, high-quality, scalable educational content. You will determine what content needs to be developed and oversee and participate in the process of developing and refining the curriculum. You will build a team that operationalizes curriculum development as a core capability of the school, and you will play a critical role in the future success of the company.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Build and maintain a strategic roadmap and calendar for curriculum development; identify the biggest needs and prioritize development accordingly
- Develop process and standards for how curriculum is developed at Flatiron School; oversee the entire curriculum development process, including writing/reviewing/editing curriculum where necessary
- Build and manage a team of people that support and execute on scalable curriculum development
- Develop strategic partnerships to expand the depth and reach of our educational content and curriculum
- Work with our community management team to foster a community of learners and developers that give back by contributing curriculum development
- Collaborate with the product and engineering team to ensure that the user experience of our digital learning products matches our best-in-class educational content
- Ensure submissions from our education team and community match our educational approach and are of the highest quality
- Report on the growth and development of curriculum to the rest of the organization

REQUIREMENTS

- You have programming experience, and strong opinions on the state of programming education
- You have experience managing teams, especially technical teams or open-source projects/communities with remote individuals
- You already contribute to the technical community - perhaps you maintain a technical blog or an open-source project, or you speak at conferences; you are an excellent communicator
- You can work cross-functionally with a variety of people from writers to engineers to designers to instructors
