About Us

Order Desk is an order management service that helps e-commerce merchants manage and automate their order fulfillment workflow. We have nearly 200 integrations and a unique rules engine that provides a customizable and flexible solution that our customers can't find anywhere else. Our growth has been mostly organic: through customer testimonials and word of mouth.

We're still a small team, but we've got enough to do that we're ready to expand. We expect to continue our pattern of organic growth, but we're ready to step up our game and begin more outreach and marketing. Now that we have a solid product and a growing customer base, we want to look good too. We need someone to come in and focus on marketing and design. Is that someone you?

About You

You'll be in charge of our public marketing site, building new marketing materials, and managing our email newsletter communication, but we also need your design skills for creating a professional and appealing brand.

You must be enthusiastic and excited about being early in with a growing tech startup, ready to shape your own position here and be influential in the company as we grow our team, our app and our customer base.

You're creative, hardworking, fearless (but humble), not bothered by all the hats we must wear, good at communication and proficient in English. You have a good eye for design, aren't intimidated by learning a complex system and simplifying it for our customers, can work both independently and collaborate with the team. Social media experience doesn't hurt, and you love and are comfortable working with and learning new technology.

Like the rest of our team, you'll have a very hands-on role with everything we do. This is a very complex app, and it's important that everyone on our team understands the system before working more autonomously within their own specific role. We listen to our customers and learn from them. They help us make the best product we can.

Because of this, and because the best way to become an expert at our app is to be involved with our customers, everyone who joins our team is initially trained in customer support. Don't worry, this isn't forever! It's just until you have a solid understanding of the app, are comfortable talking with our customers when needed, and to give you an idea for how they're struggling and what their needs are. The questions and confusions our customers have are directly related to how the marketing and design role will communicate with and make improvements for them.

Initially you'll be spending about half of your time talking to customers and the other half of your time working on marketing and design projects. As you begin to show a solid understanding of how the app works, you'll spend less time working in support and will be able to focus more on your role as the marketing director, preparing for the growth we expect to see over the next couple years and beyond.

We're looking for someone who can design beautiful things with a purpose and has the HTML chops to actually build it, someone who isn't afraid to step in and help out where needed, someone who wants to be part of a small team preparing for big growth. If you have fresh ideas and the enthusiasm to take our company to the next level, you just might be the person we need. You will have a lot of say as we grow.

This is a remote position so where you live doesn't really matter. We would expect you to generally keep US daytime hours along with the rest of the team, though we have flexibility and are committed to a healthy work/life balance for our team members.

What You'll Be Doing:

In charge of the public marketing site

Create mini-sites with info and selling points

Manage and write email campaigns

Strategize marketing campaigns

Take over the design projects that need to be done

Help with customer support initially and then as needed
