Position Description

As part of a comprehensive array of services, the Learning Innovations Program (LI) at WestEd provides technical assistance and research in the areas of education, health and prevention. The education technical assistance work focuses on transforming educational systems in partnership with state and local educators, families, and communities to strengthen teaching and learning and to ensure equity so all students thrive. LI's projects include a wide range of services and supports including technical assistance and professional learning related to curriculum design and implementation, school transformation, equity, leadership development, and state and local policy development. WestEd's work, while varied, is focused on impacting outcomes for students through the development and cultivation of educational systems, practices, policies, and cultures that result in learning for all students. The Learning Innovations Program team consists of approximately 65 staff with presence and projects in over fifteen states, including all those on the eastern seaboard.

- Design and provide effective professional development engagements to support improvement of teaching and learning.
- Lead professional learning experiences that focuses on using proprietary WestEd protocols with school and teacher leaders to facilitate professional learning communities in schools.
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients, characterized by respect and trust.
- Maintain ongoing communication among and between program staff and clients.
- Support completion of defined scopes of work for school and district services.
- Collaborate with a team of professional development providers to analyze district and school needs and plan services.
- Prepare written reports for internal and external audiences and professional development materials as needed.
- Write proposals and contribute to overall development efforts.


- Minimum of Master's degree in Education or related field.
- Knowledge of the state and national learning standards.
- Familiarity with effective and standards-based curriculum and instructional practices.
- Experience working with state education agencies and with state-wide initiatives.
- Highly effective consulting and facilitation skills.
- Experience as an educator and coach or administrator.
- Ability to perform data analysis and interpretation.
- Solid writing skills.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities under time-restricted conditions.
- Commitment to quality products and customer service.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently to realize program goals.
- Necessary application skills: Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
- Willingness and ability to travel for extended, overnight work engagements.
- Residence in New York State.
