What We Are Looking For

NCU is currently seeking a dynamic individual to become part of our Instructional Design & Development team as an Instructional Designer. This is a temporary position based on University need. It is anticipated this position will be needed for 12 - 18 months.

This position is responsible for the successful design and development of online courses as part of Northcentral University's curriculum development projects. The primary role for this position to liaise with academic constituents and subject matter experts for the timely development and delivery of quality courses. This position will ensure that all courses developed will adhere to NCU's curriculum quality standards.

Essential Functions

- Takes direction from the Director of University Curriculum for course development assignments and other projects and deliverables as assigned.
- Coordinates closely with the Sr. Instructional Designers to coordinate the planning, scheduling and delivery of courses related to curriculum development projects.
- Collaborates with geographically-distributed academic constituents and colleagues during the design, development, and launch for new courses and major course revisions.
- Provides insights and recommendations to academic constituents regarding selection of learning objects, activities and assessments as related to the strengths and capabilities of the institution's online learning platform.
- Edits and organizes electronic information to create high-quality course content that is suited to the adult online Learner.
- Produces instructional materials such as graphics and interactive media elements.
- Performs minor revisions and hot-fixes as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Must have intermediate-to-advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products with exceptional skills using Microsoft Word.
- Skill in production and/or acquisition of instructional materials including graphics and interactive media elements.
- Prefer a familiarity with HTML, XML and the following Adobe development software: Flash/Shockwave, Captivate, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Premier.
- Strong ability to communicate online using e-mail, chat rooms, videoconferencing and other technology based on communication media.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented and individual context, as required by specific work demands.
- Ability to work with production schedules, deadlines, and deliverables.

Education and Experience

- Master's degree with focus in curriculum and instruction from a regionally accredited institution required
- Minimum of two (2) years of instructional design experience in higher education required
- Experience with LMS, required
- Experience with D2L, preferred
- Experience with the design, development and implementation of online delivery of education.
- Experience with the use of Web 2.0 technologies to support learning
- Knowledge of rubrics and course assessments.
- All skills, abilities and education will be considered for minimum qualifications.

- Read a computer screen and written material.
- Write, type, and use phone system.

Working Conditions

This position operates in a remote, home office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, printers, and phones.

- Good working environment with the absence of disagreeable conditions.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Regular and reliable attendance is required.
