SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for performing a number of duties, including administrative support. The Librarian II will have an advanced set of skills capable of supporting graduate and doctoral studies. This position requires a minimum of 3 years library experience in an academic environment and an ALA master's degree in Library Science. This position requires weekend hours.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Provides reference and instructional services to students, faculty, and staff using the Library's Ask a Librarian form, chat, phone, video, and email services
- Works with vendors to resolve service issues and inquire about potential acquisitions and trials
- Acts as a Librarian Liaison to the School of Health Sciences and School of Business
- Assists Library Specialist with interlibrary loan transactions when needed
- Assists patrons with locating research materials using library subscription databases
- Delivers presentations on library resources and services to the university community
- Contributes to the Library website by creating content and posting updates
- Stays abreast of developing changes in the information and library profession and adheres to standards and guidelines prescribed by the profession and accrediting agencies.
- Works with faculty and instructional designers to address copyright issues, proper use of library materials, and information literacy
- Maintains Library usage statistics and survey results
- Evaluates and reviews potential acquisitions for the Library
- Assists in the managing of the Library budget
- Assists with reviewing licensing terms and agreements to ensure compliance with Library policies
- Works on projects as assigned by the Director of Library Services 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

- Knowledge of HTML
- Knowledge of ILLiad, Ariel, and Adobe Products
- Knowledge of APA documentation style
- Knowledge in library subscription databases relevant to programs offered at the University
- Skill in using common business applications of personal computers
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints with patience and understanding
- Ability to problem-solve and work independently
- Ability to think creatively and outside the box
- Ability to effectively present information to patrons
- Ability to use copy and fax machines
- Ability to use online applications to deliver library services
- Ability to work collaboratively in and outside the library department.
- Ability to understand issues surrounding copyright, specifically use of digital content in courses
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

- Master's degree with focus in Library Sciences (MLS) from an ALA accredited institution required
- Health Sciences Librarianship experience required
- Second Master's degree or educational background in the social sciences preferred
- Experience with software programs that include ILLiad, Ariel, EZProxy, Captivate and Microsoft Office
- Familiarity of information literacy concepts and the ability to apply them in a variety of situations required
- HTML, XHTML, and CSS experience
