Position Summary

The Executive Director, Strategic Higher Education Assessment Use is responsible for driving and ensuring broad Higher Education confidence in and use of College Board assessments, across admission, placement, advising, and retention, at both 4 and 2-year colleges. With a primary focus on SAT, the ED will engage key enrollment and retention leaders across multiple campus functions to understand needs and issues and ensure that CB assessments are effectively positioned to meet current and emerging needs and improve student outcomes. The ED provides leadership for a research driven and systematic approach to informing assessment and program development, and to leading Higher Ed engagement in support of critical strategic initiatives. The ED will partner closely with SAT and Accuplacer program leadership, with CB research, and with the Higher Education leadership team to develop and impact overall College Board higher education strategy. The Executive Director will serve on the Higher Leadership Team, which meets regularly with the Chief of Global Higher Education.

Responsibilities

- Engage deeply with campus leaders to understand assessment needs and issues, identify and drive current and future best practices, and strategically inform Higher Ed-focused program roadmaps (SAT, ACES, and Accuplacer).
- Lead the development and management of a Higher Ed assessment research agenda that positions the College Board as a national leader and change agent.
- Partner closely with the SAT program, internal Higher Ed staff leaders, and Communications to develop and lead outreach strategies for key program initiatives.
- Serve as a credible, trusted national voice on emerging assessment needs and uses across admissions and retention, and represent the College Board with multiple external groups.
- Author and oversee the development of reports, white papers and guides that advance the use of CB assessments and improve student access and completion
- Provide leadership for and contribute to the College Board's community college strategy and agenda, with a special focus on improving student progress and outcomes by leveraging College Board assessment data.
- Ensure that Higher Ed use of CB assessments is a visible topic and focus at key College Board and external events and conferences, including CB Annual and Regional Forums, presidential and institutional research conferences, and other influential convenings.
- Liaise with key Higher Ed associations to ensure the visibility, relevance, and value of CB assessments.
- Act as thought leader/facilitator in issue, policy and practice including admission policies, changing demographics, Common Core State Standards, institutional accountability; facilitate relationship between CB staff leadership and trustees.
- Consolidate and maintain CB-wide view of Enrollment Management activities, goals and investments.
- Track issues and progress against overall agenda and support of the Enrollment Management community.

Minimum Qualifications

- Master's degree required, PhD preferred.
- 15-20 years of directly related leadership and work experience in higher education administration is required
- Demonstrated record of developing and authoring relevant research, reports, white papers, and other forms of published thought leadership is required
- Nationally recognized leader in the 4-year enrollment community and in the 2-year leadership community
- Exemplary skills in facilitating research, in relationship development and engagement, and in strategic facilitation
