The College Board, a national educational organization, is conducting a search for a Senior Director, Financial Aid Initiatives. This position can be remote based.

Position Summary

The Senior Director Financial Aid Initiatives is a member of a team of experts who work collaboratively to develop and maintain a strategic financial aid agenda focused on policies, practices and programs. Key areas of responsibility include strong and effective engagement and communication with higher education leaders, financial aid practitioners, advisory groups and service users. The Senior Director will develop robust financial aid programming and professional development opportunities for the financial aid community and be a key contributor to College Board financial aid services and to the Institutional Methodology. S/he will support and manage projects, events and conferences, such as, the Campus Need Analysis Roundtable and Higher Ed Colloquium.

What you'll do

Financial Aid Agenda and Community Engagement

- Together with the Executive Director of Financial Aid Engagement & Services, financial aid policy and program staff and the financial aid community, develop and maintain strategies for the College Board's financial aid agenda.
- Support and project manage key events that bring together higher education professionals and financial aid practitioners to discuss critical issues facing students and institutions, such as, the Higher Ed Colloquium.
- Lead engagement and communication campaigns and serve as a resource for higher education and financial aid marketing initiatives.
- Serve as primary financial aid liaison for regional and national forums including the development of robust financial aid content and providing subject matter expertise for professional development offerings.
- Leverage financial aid community relationships to develop and assemble committees
- Represent the College Board with key stakeholders including CSS/FAA Council, Assemblies, FASSAC, PF advisory group, 568 group, COFHE, etc.
- Represent the College Board at national and regional College Board meetings and at state, regional, and national financial aid administrator association meetings.
- Provide financial aid expertise and thought leadership across the organization.
- Work with Communications to provide expert financial aid responses to media requests.

Program Support and Management

- Provide insight and consultation to the Financial Aid Services team on current and emerging needs and practices in the financial aid office, financial aid subject matter expertise and product knowledge.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for CSS Profile and Institutional Methodology and related services.
- Support and project manage financial aid services user events, such as, the Campus Need Analysis Roundtable.
- Execute and participate in user communications, outreach, retention campaigns and user surveys.
- Serve as a key contributor to the management of financial aid services, including initiatives to improve performance and user satisfaction
- Collaborate with financial aid services managers to ensure policies and procedures that impact users and students are effective
- Lead/execute financial aid services marketing initiatives, including online and print collateral reviews and development
- Serve on rapid response team to address time-sensitive challenges relevant to policy, regulatory or legislative changes, as well as program or service operations

Who you are

- Bachelor's Degree Required, Master's Degree preferred,
- 8+ years of recent directly-related, progressively responsible work experience in financial administration including familiarity with College Board financial aid services: CSS Profile, Institutional Methodology, etc. Technical/operational management, budgetary responsibility, management and supervisory experience preferred.
- Deep understanding of need analysis methodologies required - both Federal and Institutional Methodologies.
- Thorough knowledge of financing postsecondary education and student financial aid and of College Board financial aid services.
- Demonstrated competency in strategic thinking, relationship management, and strong presentation, speaking, and meeting facilitation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data and communicate results clearly.
- Highly user and customer focused.
- Highly collaborative individual with ability to influence others and build strong professional relationships.
- Team-oriented. Able to both lead and participate in collaborative, flexible cross-functional teams.
- Excellent leadership skills that inspire others and embrace teamwork and collaboration.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication, presentation and organizational skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel (20-50%)
