Dust yourself off and get back into the game.

It’s been a VERY rough 7 days for me and it’s taking everything out of me to get back into action. Remember when you first learned to ride a bike? Except for our middle daughter who just jumped on and started riding, I’m sure you fell. However if you’re anything like me, I’m positive you got right back on and didn’t give up until you conquered that 2 wheel nemesis. Funny how life can be the very same way.

Every Christmas I usually build a toy store after trying to predict what the “hot” toy of the season would be and it’s made me good money over the years. However this years was promising to be  extra special as far as the toy I picked to promote. Now I can’t name it at this point since it’s a very good niche (I’m sure if you dig you’ll find it), but it was making me good money. Basically all I did was find the toy, built an online store with  Ebay / Amazon and promoted it.

All was going well.. even to the point where I was already seeing myself on a beach at the height of winter  when the temperature drops below -20 C in Canada. I checked my stats before going to bed about 7 days ago and I had made over $1,000 in profit that day alone. This campaign/ store was about to blow up and make me the kind of money I’d hear top affiliates were supposedly making.

As I peeked at my campaigns (PPC) in Google the next day I noticed that there were no impressions or clicks to my store. WHAT? All day I monitored the campaigns and it was the same story. Not to bore you with my anger, depression etc.. but Google decided that I did something wrong and closed my account with them. I could no longer buy traffic to the toy site. $1000 a day profit website with potential to double went up in smoke. I was CRUSHED!

It’s now been over a week and no matter what I try or which pay per click engine I use, I can’t duplicate the traffic I was purchasing from Google. What I don’t understand is, Google did email to say my account was closed and I can’t advertise with them again, but they never said what I did specifically nor did they even give me a warning or the ability to respond. I would not do anything purposely to get my account suspended, so I’m extra pissed now.

Lessons Learned!

- though it may seem like you’re crushed when something with such potential collapses on you, you have to find the strength to get back up and continue working.

- it’s important that you go back to doing what you normally do until you once again find something with such potential

- don’t put all your eggs in one basket. With my dependence on Google’s traffic I left myself vulnerable to my situation

- even when you find a new way of making money, don’t only focus on it. Give ample time to your other projects as well.

I’m still trying to get some life back into the campaign, so if you read this any know of any good traffic sources (legit ones only please) please contact me. Maybe you know somewhere that I can do a media buy? I can make it worth your while!

BTW, the image you see is the Ginger Bread house Tehya made this year.. had to show it off. Hopefully you’re having a better time at this working from home gig (make money using the internet) than me!

P.S. If you’re out shopping this holiday season, do smile and don’t walk around in a grumpy mood as so many shoppers do ever year around this time.
