Most people who set out to work from home and make a success out of it ended up with a sour taste in their mouths because they didn’t learn the ropes before jumping in. Finding real work from home jobs requires that you have the tips and necessary information on how to identify the real thing in the midst of several scams. Below are tips to help you find the best home-based jobs from legit work from home sites.

  • Visit websites that list work from home jobs and browse through the job listings. A good example of work from home sites is http://www.genuinejobs.com/. If the sites have a resume posting section, be sure to post your resume there. This will make you visible to companies searching for remote or virtual workers. Only genuine companies with real job openings will contact you for jobs from these sites.
  • Use reputable job search engines to look for the list of home-based job openings available. Use major home-based job search keywords like telecommute, freelancing, data entry, virtual assistants, etc. When you enter broad keywords like work from home, you will get over 1000 search results, and most of them are scams that ask you to pay a certain amount for information on where to find the highest paying home-based job.
  • Only apply if the site offers home-based job opportunities and not information on where you can find home-based job opportunities. Keep your resume and cover letter handy so you can apply as soon as you find a genuine work from home job site with real job opportunities. Real sites will never ask for your account information or charge a fee for their services. If you see a site that says you must pay to get hired run!
  • Most genuine home-based job opportunities will require a physical interview with you in their local office or an online interview through video conferencing, Skype chat or any other chatting platform to know whom they are dealing with. Such interviews are no different from the traditional job interview so you must be prepared to answer the relevant questions.
  • Most people fall victims to work from home scams because they are carried away by the mouth-watering income potentials claimed by such frauds. In my years of working from home, I have come to discover that no real company charges you a fee before they give you the job. Even the online recruiters who claim to have information on all job openings in the world are probably looking for an easy prey.
  • Join relevant groups and chat forums on social media sites. You will find topics where people air their experiences with most of these so called online recruiters. Here you can ask questions about the program you are about to sign up with, chances are that you will find people who have had one or two ugly experiences with them in the past. When you join groups like freelancer on Facebook, you will find a list of genuine online jobs that have been tested and trusted by real people like you and certified as legit home-based job opportunities. Occasionally, you will find job opening postings on such forums as well. For more help read telecommuting blog.
