What is your time worth?

29 December 2009 No Comment

Have you ever taken the time to consider what your time is worth? With the new year quickly approaching I’m starting to look at all aspects of my life to find ways I can improve on the way I normally do things. The goal is to work smarter and not harder by automating as much as I can. This should (in theory) free up more time for me to spend with my family and to devote to other revenue generating ideas that I have.

This morning as I sat there in our family doctor’s office waiting for my weekly allergy shot, I started to calculate the amount of time I’ve spent in the last year getting this allergy shot.  It’s a 20 minute drive to and from the office, it take another 10-15 minutes to actually get in to see the nurse, then after that I have to wait around another 25 minutes at the office to ensure that I don’t have any reactions. So that’s roughly 1 hr every week, x’s 52 weeks in a year. Now this is not something I can cut back on since I must be in the presence of a Dr to get the allergy shot. However, the time I wait to be called in and the time I spend after the needle, I could be putting to better use.

Basically this is time I cannot control, however if I use that time to multi-task (read, write sales pages, brain storm ideas or review stats) I’m sure I won’t be complaining about the 52hours I spend yearly at a doctor’s office.

What is your time worth? Are there areas you can improve on that will free up more time for you to build your business? Maybe it’s time you start looking for ways in which you can manage your time more effectively?

Cheers

Chris…

p.s. Speaking about “time” I just came back from 3 hrs at the movie theatre watching “Avatar”. Yup, it’s 3 hrs I won’t get back, but it was 3 hrs of fun, excitement and relaxation.
