Why it’s important to follow up with the hiring employer.

14 December 2010 2 Comments

To land the job of your dreams you must first get your feet in the door, and this usually means convincing the employer to give you an interview. To enhance you chances at getting an interview, it’s very important that you follow up with the employer a few days after you send in your job application. In this video I’ll explain why the follow up process is so important, how to follow up with the employer and how to deal with the “don’t call us, we’ll call you” stance by the potential employer.

Quite Frankly ; If you blindly send out resumes and are not in the habit of following up with the hiring manager, you could be wasting your time.

    Hi Chris,

Thanks for keeping me updated on the newest telecommuting jobs available. So far, I’ve found two prospects through your announcements. However, there’s a concern that I want to consult with you as regards application follow ups. I did a follow up to one of the employers 5 days after I’ve emailed them my application and the other requirements. To date, however, I haven’t heard anything from them. Do you think I should take the absence of a reply as a “No”? I’ve submitted to them my application last December 23.

    Thanks,
    Celine
